JAPANESE PHOTOGRAPH by Chow San
Hongkong-based photographer Chow San’s imaginative street photographs in Japan manage to find and create absurd, humorous scenes within everyday situations. These are perhaps not photographs that a Japanese photographer would be able to take. But, asks Chow San in his artist statement, “[w]hat constitutes the Japanese style in photography? Low contrast? +1.5EV? Green tint? Photography comprises the process of duplication. There’s no point to bother about HOW the photos are duplicated. Instead, Japanese style photos are merely some photos taken in Japan.”
