Cyanotype Printing. 4hrs 1 to 1 

    intro: A 1 to 1 workshop exploring the popular Victorian hobby and pastime of making prints using (UV) Sunlight onto regular art paper.  

    What you’ll learn:

    • How to mix the chemicals for making a cyanotype.
    • How to coat your paper & creative ways to do so.
    • Creative techniques for image making.
    • Creating a digital negative.
    • How to expose your print.
    • How to tone your cyanotypes.
    • After learning how to use the darkroom you will be able to rent the darkroom to make Cyanotype prints.
    • We will provide:
    • 10 x sheets of 10x8 paper (5 x pre-coated & 5 x for you to coat).
    • All equipment to expose, wash and dry your prints.
    • Objects for you to use including: Flowers, paper for stencils, etc
    • Disposable gloves, cotton gloves, uv goggles.

    What to bring:

    • Any objects / botanicals you would like to use.
    • A selection of about 5 images on a USB memory stick, these can be from your phone, digital camera etc. We will be using one or more of these images to create digital negatives to print from.
    • Crafts apron or old T-Shirt.
    • Sunglasses.

    What you will take away:

    • After the workshop you will be able make good prints at home or by renting out the darkroom.  However absolutely perfecting your own technique may require further research online etc or/and talking to Rapid Eye staff.
    • We will provide packaging for you to take all your prints home with you to show your friends and family.  By the way these prints make great gifts and look amazing framed around the home.
